Diabetes Patients at Greater Risk for Serious Infection

29.01.2018

Patients with diabetes, particularly type 1 diabetes mellitus (T1DM), are at increased risk of serious infection, according to a study published online in Diabetes Care.

The researchers found that patients with diabetes had higher rates for infections, compared to control subjects without diabetes. The highest incidence of infections is in the urinary tract (kidney, prostate, bladder), bone and soft connective tissues (under the skin or inside between organs). Never undersimate sudden onset of fever in diabetic people.
